MISC dismisses AET sale rumours

London: Malaysia’s state-owned shipping company MISC has dismissed rumours that it plans to sell its AET, its petroleum tanker subsidiary.

“In response to recent market speculation, MISC confirms that petroleum shipping is a core element of its current and ongoing business and, as such, has no plans to divest itself of its petroleum tanker subsidiary,” the company said in a statement today.

Previous reports suggested that AET, which owns a fleet of 74 crude oil and product tankers, was to be sold to NYSE-listed Teekay Tankers.
