Nantong Xiangyu wins order for eight methanol-ready ultramaxes

Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has signed a construction deal for eight 64,000 dwt methanol-ready bulk carriers with Xiamen Jinxian and COSCO Shipping Bulk.

According to the Chinese shipbuilder, the vessels will have a larger load capacity and lower fuel consumption when compared with similar ships at home and abroad as well as being more environmentally friendly. Financial details of the deal have been left undisclosed.

Currently, the total order volume of ultramax ships at Nantong Xiangyu has exceeded 100 units, the most out of any Chinese shipyard.
