New Delhi to tender for three new ports

Tenders are due to be launched by the shipping ministry in the next six weeks to develop three Indian greenfield ports.

The three sites are at Wadhwan port near Mumbai, Sagar port in West Bengal and Colachel in Tamil Nadu.

In all the three port projects, the local governments would be given 26% stakes. All three are expected to face significant hurdles from local residents and governments with Wadhwan deemed the easiest to get off the ground.
