New Hong Kong shipmanager emerges

A new shipmanagement company has been formed in Hong Kong, one of the world’s top cities for third-party management.

Seaways Ship Management has set up offices in Kowloon Bay and offers both technical and crew management.

The company is led by Sanjeev Verma, who previously headed up Landbridge Ship Management. Veerma, a former seafarer, also worked for Hong Kong shipowner Wah Kwong for a number of years.

“Seaways will also leverage the latest technologies and innovations to enhance its operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. It’s our vision to become a leading shipmanagement company in the region and beyond, with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and excellence,” Verma told Splash today.

Hong Kong can lay claim to having three out of the 12 largest shipmanagers in the world, plus a host of up and coming brands. The local government has made the business a tax-friendly one and managers these days form arguably a more important cluster than owners in the city’s maritime DNA.
