Offshore rig owner Noble has won a contract with French giant TotalEnergies for one of its harsh-environment jack-up rigs.
As a result, Noble will redeploy its Noble Regina Allen rig for the drilling of three horizontal wells at the Fenix natural gas development off southern Argentina.
The Fenix natural gas project is, according to Noble, aligned with TotalEnergies’ low-emissions strategy of 9 kilograms of CO2 emissions per barrel of oil equivalent.
The rig will start work for Total Austral, a subsidiary of the French firm, in the first half of 2024 and have a duration of around 220 days.
The estimated contract value is around $33m, excluding mobilization and demobilization fees. The contract also contains four one-well options. The rig is currently undergoing repair work in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
“We are very pleased to confirm that the Noble Regina Allen will be brought back into the market for this important Argentinian natural gas project,” said Blake Denton, SVP of marketing and contracts at Noble.
