Oaktree and Senator bolster Star Bulk holdings

Leading private equity names are investing more in Nasdaq-listed Greek owner Star Bulk Carriers. Oaktree Capital Management and Senator Investor Group have come in for a combined $51.5m of shares in the dry bulk owner via a private placement due to close early next month.

Star Bulk said it intends to use the net proceeds of the offering for general corporate purposes.

Oaktree and Senator are expected to own approximately 51.4% and 6.5 %, respectively, of the company’s outstanding common shares come next month.
