OceanPal fixes out bulker to Five Ocean

Greek bulker owner OceanPal has entered a time charter contract with Five Ocean Corporation for one of its capesize dry bulk vessels.

Five Ocean hired the 171,810-dwt bulker Salt Lake City on a gross charter rate of $14,500 per day minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.

The Nasdaq-listed spinoff of Diana Shipping said that the vessel would be on hire for a period between 120 and 180 days. The charter was expected to begin on September 24, 2023.

The employment of the 2005-built bulker is anticipated to generate approximately $1.52m of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.

OceanPal’s fleet currently consists of five dry bulk vessels, two of which are capesize and three are panamax bulkers.

At the end of August, the Robert Perri-led company entered the chemical tanker segment with an investment in Norwegian entity, RFSea Infrastructure II, which has a pair of 6,600 dwt methanol-ready stainless steel vessels contracted at Wuhu Shipyard in China.
