Petrobras has deployed a fifth FPSO at the Lula Field in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.
Brazil’s state oil company has been striving to boost output from the prolific deep-water field as it tries to recover from multiple economic setbacks over the past year.
SBM Offshore’s FPSO Cidade de Marica has capacity to process up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day. It will be connected to 10 producing wells and is expected to start production in the first quarter of 2016.
The Lula field is 65 percent owned by Petrobras, 25 percent by Britain’s BG and 10 percent by Portugal’s Galp Energia SGPS.
