Petrobras taps Weatherford for intervention services in Brazil

NYSE-listed oilfield services provider Weatherford International has been awarded a five-year contract to provide intervention services for oil and gas giant Petrobras in Brazil.

Weatherford has performed subsea intervention and commissioning services in Brazil in close cooperation with Petrobras for more than 20 years.

The company will build on this with the provision of the Centro digitalization solution. Centro is a well-construction optimization platform, which provides better visibility and performance during operations.

“Our long history of collaboration to extend the productive life of Petrobras assets while reducing nonproductive time will be further enhanced through our cutting-edge digitalization offering,” Girish Saligram, Weatherford president and CEO, said.

Petrobras had a milestone moment recently. Namely, the P-32 FPSO, which worked on the Marlim field of the Campos Basin, was sold last week to steel company Gerdau and the Ecovix shipyard for recycling.

According to a company statement, this will be the first commercial vessel at the end of its lifecycle to be dismantled in Brazil.
