PV Drilling awarded long-term jackup contract in Indonesia

Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) and its local partner PT Jimmulya have secured a long-term contract for a jackup drilling rig in Indonesia.

The contract, secured from Pertamina, will see the 2009-built PV Drilling III committed for a firm period of three years to serve a drilling campaign offshore North West Java and offshore South East Sumatra.

The rig should start its employment by the end of December 2024 or early January 2025 and Pertamina has options to extend the deal by two more years. The company’s unit Pertamina Hulu Energi ONWJ has also been utilising the PV Drilling II jackup for a drilling campaign in the West Java Sea under a 3-year contract which started in December 2022.

The PV Drilling III is currently working for Hibiscus in Malaysia, where it has set a record for drilling the longest well, measuring 6,963 m.
