RINA appoints new shipping head

Nello Sulfaro has been appointed the new head of the shipping division at Italian classification society RINA. He will be in charge of the group’s marine and certification businesses. Sulfaro succeeds Michele Francioni who recently resigned citing a management spat.

Sulfaro told Splash: “I’m very pleased to be in charge for two such important market segments as certification and marine which are of great importance for the group. RINA’s new positioning acknowledges the new role of digitalisation. This is not only evident within the company’s own in-house processes, but also the external services it offers through the strategic application of technology, such as big data and artificial intelligence, also in the field of marine and certification activities.”
