Ryan Petersen returns as CEO at Flexport

After a year in the role, Dave Clark has stepped down as CEO at Flexport with the company’s founder Ryan Petersen returning to take the day-to-day helm at the digital freight forwarder.

Clark joined the San Francisco-based freight forwarding and customs brokerage Flexport last September having worked for Amazon for 23 years previously. Petersen moved to the role of executive chairman.

Clark, tipped to have a run at politics in Texas, said Petersen was focused on growing the core freight business while Petersen, in a note to employees, said his aim was to get Flexport back into profits. At the start of this year, the company took the decision to let go of 20% of its staff expecting shipping volumes to slump this year.
