Safe Bulkers sells 2015-built kamsarmax

New York-listed Greek dry bulk owner Safe Bulkers has entered into an agreement for the sale of an eight-year-old bulker.

The company sold the 2015 Chinese-built, 82,000 dwt kamsarmax Pedhoulas Cherry at a gross sale price of $26.6m and an estimated forward delivery in January to February 2024.

According to Safe Bulkers president Loukas Barmparis, the “attractive” sale of the vessel comes at the same time as the delivery of some newbuilds.

“Company’s remaining orderbook includes seven more phase 3 newbuilds, two of which are methanol dual fuel, with delivery dates three in 2024, two in 2025, one in 2026, and one in 2027, targeting one of the most environmentally efficient dry bulk fleets in the market,” he added.
