China’s SC Shipping has booked up to 10 stainless steel chemical tankers for construction at compatriot China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou.

The deal covers five firm 25,900 dwt newbuilds with deliveries from 2026 through to 2028 and five optional vessels.

The parent company, Shanghai Junzheng, said in a stock exchange filing that the newbuilds would be classed by ABS, fly the Hong Kong flag and not exceed RMB3.2bn ($441.6m) in total.

SC Shipping operates around 80 chemical tankers between 3,000 dwt and 40,000 dwt.
