Multinational oilfield services provider Schlumberger cut another 2,000 jobs in the first quarter of this year, according to Bloomberg.
With the drastic drop in the price of crude oil over the past two years Schlumberger has laid off around 34,000 since the third quarter of 2014.
Last week Schlumberger, which has principal offices in Houston, Paris, London and The Hague, announced it was scaling back its business in Venezuela because of payment problems with that country’s state oil firm Petroleos de Venezuela SA PDVSA.
