SLB halts all shipments of equipment into Russia

Oilfield services giant SLB has stopped shipments of products and technology into Russia from all its facilities worldwide in response to the continued expansion of international sanctions.

This follows SLB’s previous ban on shipments from the United States, United Kingdom, the European Union, and Canada into Russia.

Beginning in March 2022, SLB took voluntary measures to curtail its Russian activity and announced that it would make no new investments in Russia and not deploy new technology from its services business.

At the time, the remaining two US oil services giants – Halliburton, and Baker Hughes – followed suit.

“Since then, SLB has continued to commit significant resources to ensure it meets and exceeds the various international laws. SLB takes its responsibility to comply with export control and economic sanction laws extremely seriously, and the company remains aligned with the international community in condemning and calling for an end to the war in Ukraine,” the company said in a statement.

Last week, SLB was also in the headlines but for a quite different reason. Namely, the company got a date for the start of a trial for sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the field. The trial started on July 17.
