St Lawrence traffic resumes as grounded cement carrier is refloated

Marine traffic resumed along the St Lawrence river yesterday after a cement carrier was successfully refloated having grounded near Cornwall in Ontario early on Sunday morning.

Two tugs were able to shift the NACC Argonaught within two hours yesterday morning. The ship has been moved to Lake St Francis for further inspection with repairs to the hull likely to be required.

A total of 17 vessels were affected by the two-day traffic interruption.

Investigations into how the ship slipped off the fairway are still ongoing.
