Star Bulk confirms capesize sale

Star Bulk Carriers has announced the sale of five-year-old capesize Obelix for $23.3m as reported by Splash last week.

The Japanese-built vessel is expected to be delivered to the buyers, an unnamed Greek buyer, during the first half of 2016.

Star Bulk says it intends to use a portion of the net proceeds from the sale for repayment of the outstanding debt amount related to the vessel and the remainder for general corporate purposes.

Star Bulk has offloaded nine vessels during the past two months, seven of them capesizes, and still has 10 capesizes and one super-cape under construction.
