TGS reveals projects offshore Argentina and Brazil

Seismic data provider TGS has announced new projects offshore Argentina and Brazil.

The Oslo-listed company is expanding its multiclient 3D coverage in Malvinas Basin offshore Argentina with plans to acquire around 7,500 sq km 3D seismic survey. The survey is expected to start by early 2024 and upon completion, boost TGS’ Malvinas 3D library to 25,000 sq km.

Offshore Brazil, TGS announced the Amazonia Azul 2D-cubed project, the first of its kind in the country. The project, which covers a wide area of 268,506 sq km, is an expansion of TGS’ multiclient data coverage in the region, with the goal of improving understanding of the Brazil Equatorial Margin area.

The novel 2D-cubed technology employs a structurally conformable interpolation engine to convert 2D data into a full 3D volume that can be evaluated on a regional scale.

“This cutting-edge approach enables users to fully leverage the capabilities of their 3D interpretation software, significantly improving analysis and facilitating the communication of geological insights,” TGS said, adding that initial data should be available in the first quarter of 2024.
