The Captain’s Table finalists announced

The finalists of The Captain’s Table pitch competition have been unveiled. The six start-ups have been selected to participate in the finals which will be streamed live on Splash on November 23.

The finalists are 123Carbon, a Dutch digital decarbonisation start-up, Crewdential, a seafarer well-being/SaaS solutions provider from Guernsey, ESG NRG, a decarbonisation/sustainability specialist from Norway, Indian education and training start-up Marine Insight, onboard IoT connectivity solutions firm Sealution from Belgium, and Singapore-based smart port company Magicport.

“From sustainable safety solutions to innovative decarbonisation concepts, these startups represent the future of innovation and maritime business. Their passion and dedication have shone through, earning them a well-deserved spot in the final round,” said Tabitha Logan, co-founder of the competition.

With an unwavering commitment to nurturing innovation, this unique competition provides participants with an unparalleled opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges, comprised of industry leaders, venture capitalists, and seasoned entrepreneurs.

“It was challenging to pick the six finalists from the applications. But, in the arena of innovation, it’s not only the strength of the idea that matters most, but the courage of the founder to bring it to life. It is that something extra in the founder and team that we look for,” said Su Yin Anand, the other co-founder of the competition.

With their extensive knowledge and expertise, the judges will assess each pitch based on its viability, market potential, scalability, and impact on society. The competition will not only recognise exceptional ideas but also offer valuable feedback to help participants refine and strengthen their concepts.

In addition to the honour of being selected as one of the finalists, participants will compete for a generous prize pool, which includes access to funding, legal advice, corporate partnerships, mentorship opportunities, and vital resources to help turn their business into thriving ventures.

“As we eagerly await the final showdown, we applaud these visionaries for their ingenuity and determination. Stay tuned to witness the next big ideas that could shape our world. The competition is fierce, and the future is bright,” said Anand.

As well as being streamed live via Splash, those in town for Hong Kong Maritime Week can attend the finals live on November 23 but organisers advise to sign up fast as spaces at Hong Kong Connect Hall in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange are going fast. Tickets are available here
