Toro ships out veteran tanker for $17m profit

Nasdaq-listed tanker and LPG owner Toro has landed another massive profit from the sale of an elderly tanker bought in 2021.

The spinoff of Cyprus-based Castor Maritime has confirmed offloading its nineteen-year-old aframax LR2 Wonder Musica for $28m, deal brokers earlier reported in the $30m range.

The transaction, which should close in the third quarter, is expected to deliver a net gain of $17m on the former Alonissos the company picked up from Eleston in April 2021 for $11.1m.

The Petros Panagiotidis-led firm has also recently concluded the sales of the 2005-built Wonder Polaris and the 2006-built Wonder Bellatrix banking close to $43m in the process.
