TotalEnergies takes option on Transocean semisub

Transocean has secured more work with TotalEnergies for its semisub rig Transocean Barents.

The Swiss-based drilling giant with a fleet of 37 rigs said in its fleet status report TotalEnergies had exercised its option to add the drilling of one well in the East Mediterranean Sea.

The 2009-built rig is set to start its contract offshore Lebanon in August at $365,000 per day until October.

The freshly exercised option will keep the rig working for TotalEnergies until January 2024 at a dayrate of $370,000. The French energy major has two more one-well options on the rig.
