TotalEnergies UK extends North Sea assets maintenance deal with PBS

TotalEnergies’ UK arm has extended the general maintenance and operations contract covering its UK North Sea assets with Aberdeen-based consortium PBS.

The PBS contract was initially awarded by TotalEnergies UK back in 2020 and was supposed to last for five years.

The Aberdeen-based consortium is made up of Ponticelli, Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services, and Semco Maritime.

PBS’ general maintenance and operations contract is the largest of its kind in the UK. The company delivers integrated operations, maintenance, engineering, construction, facilities management, and access solutions with around 1,100 staff on TotalEnergies’ offshore sites, at the Shetland Gas plant, and onshore at the PBS headquarters in Westhill.

With over a year still to serve on the existing five-year contract, the French major initiated the extension after 2023 concluded with a positive performance outcome across the range of services covered under the deal. This will extend the contract through to May 2026.

“During 2023 we saw a step-change improvement in critical work streams including reduction of the safety and environmental critical element backlog, safe and timely shutdown delivery, and an overall safety record which involved 2 million man hours liquidated in the year,” said PBS director Adam Mason.

PBS will continue to press ahead with its five-year strategic plan across TotalEnergies’ seven sites in the UK North Sea. TotalEnergies operates assets in the Alwyn/Dunbar area in the Northern North Sea, the Elgin/Franklin and Culzean areas in the Central North Sea as well as the Laggan-Tormore hub in the West of Shetland area.
