Tugs ready to try and move grounded Canadian cement carrier

Two tugs are ready to try and move the NACC Argonaut, a cement carrier belonging to Nova Marine Carriers, which grounded on a tricky part of the St Lawrence river on Sunday morning, bringing ship traffic to a halt in the intervening two days.

The ship has developed a list to port. Having veered off the fairway near Cornwall in Ontario, the ship is wedged between an island and a dyke making it impossible for other ships to pass.

An attempt to try and move the 20-year-old, 13,977 dwt ship is expected this morning.
