Turkey’s Feyz Group books three ships at Damen

Istanbul-based Feyz Group has contracted Dutch shipbuilder Damen to build three 3,850 dwt combi freighter vessels.

The units will be built at the Damen Yichang Shipyard in China for delivery in early 2025.

The so-called CF 3850 is a recently redesigned vessel, allowing a wide range of cargo, including up to 172 containers on a single voyage. With a length overall of 89.70 m and a 12.5-m beam, the ship is, according to Damen, capable of maintaining speeds of more than 10 knots in headwinds when fully loaded.

The deal with an undisclosed value represents a milestone for Damen, which is marking the first newbuild cargo vessel sale to a Turkish operator.

“This is a significant moment for the market, marking the first time that a Turkish ship operator has bought newbuild cargo vessels. It will be a pleasure to see these vessels calling in at European ports under the excellent management of Feyz Group,” said Damen’s regional sales director, Boran Bekbulat.

Fleet register Equasis lists five general cargo vessels and one small handy bulker in Feyz Group’s fleet.
