Turkey’s Yasa tied to first LR2 orders

Turkish owner Yasa has been linked to a debut LR2/aframax tankers order at two separate shipyards in China.

Brokers in Greece report the Istanbul-based company contracting state-owned Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) for 114,000 dwt units each.

The newbuilds, estimated to cost $72.5m each, will be scrubbed fitted and delivered in 2026.

The Sabanci family’s shipping vehicle operates in wet and dry bulk segments with a fleet of over 50 ships. The tanker unit counts 14 ships and has mostly ordered MRs and suezmaxes in the past.
