Two dead at Petrobras oil terminal in Brazil

Athens: Two construction contractors have died while working at a Petrobras oil terminal at Barra do Riacho, Brazil.

Alex Vieira Ribeiro, 39, and Oseias Damasceno Soares, 27, drowned after scaffolding beneath them collapsed on the end of a pier at the terminal in Brazil’s Espirito Santo state, Reuters reports.

The two, who worked for construction contractor Espiral Engenharia, were wearing fall-prevention belts that locked them to the side of the scaffolding.

Labour union FUP said it took an hour for trained emergency workers to arrive and the workers’ bodies were recovered from the water by their colleagues.
