US waterways earmarked for infrastructure investment

US waterways should be significant beneficiaries of infrastructure upgrades under the administration of US President Donald Trump.

Speaking at a marina in Cincinnati, Ohio, President Trump acknowledged the great importance of waterways in transporting goods while noting that many of them are old and in decay.

Trump, speaking as part of Infrastructure Week, identified that those deficiencies impede the US economy from reaching its full potential, which is why upgrades and investment will be a big part of his legislative agenda.

The Waterways Council, an advocacy group for modernizing the waterways, issued a statement praising the President for drawing attention to “the investment needs of the inland waterways system”.
