USCG medevacs ailing crewman from bulk carrier offshore Texas

A US Coast Guard (USCG) helicopter crew on Monday successfully airlifted an ailing crewman from a bulk carrier off the coast of Texas.

The 34-year-old crewman suffered symptoms of heart problems, which prompted the captain of the 2013-built  Global Andes to call Sector Corpus Christi watch standers.

The helicopter met the ship at Brownsville Anchorage, off South Padre Island, some 10 miles from shore and took the man to Valley Regional Medical Centre in Brownsville where he was said to be in stable condition.
