Valaris seals UK jackup deal with Shell

New York-listed offshore driller Valaris has secured a contract with UK supermajor Shell for its 2019-built heavy-duty harsh environment jackup Valaris 123.

The rig has been earmarked for the Selene exploration well and Pensacola appraisal well in the UK southern North Sea.

Shell’s partner on the P2437 and P2252 licences said the contract and mobilisation is set to commence in June and July this year.

The Valaris 123 also has a six-well firm contract with TAQA on the Porthos carbon capture and storage program in the Dutch North Sea expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2024 and last for at least 170 days. The contract includes options for up to 10 wells with an estimated total duration of 300 days.
