Viking Supply Ships lays up two more PSVs

Viking Supply Ships is laying up a pair of platform supply vessels, Sol Viking and Freyja Viking, with immediate effect citing continued weak demand in the PSV market. The company’s entire PSV fleet is now laid up.

Viking said the decision will reduce the company’s operational costs and provide a positive impact on the results from the second quarter of 2016 onwards.

The move follows the lay up of anchor handling tug supply vessel Odin Viking in November, and three PSVs laid up last September

Viking did not reveal what effect the move would have on its workforce, with many of its vessels crewed by a third party ship manager.
