Wallenius Wilhelmsen nets $1bn deal in premium car segment

Oslo-listed car carrier operator Wallenius Wilhelmsen has revealed another lucrative multi-year contract.

The new deal, worth more than $1bn, has been struck with one of the leading players in premium car brands to cover both shipping and logistics services, as well as the use of biofuel.

The contract, which does not name the client, has rates in line with current market levels and is for three years, with a two-year extension option.

“We see manufacturers shifting priorities and increasingly looking for solutions which provide predictability in their supply chains. In this case, it means longer-term contracts encompassing both logistics and shipping services,” said Lasse Kristoffersen, president, and CEO at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, adding that the multi-year contract “allows for better long-term planning and extended predictability”.

Earlier this year, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, which operates around 125 ships, signed several long-term shipping contracts worth about $1.8bn.
