Guangzhou Port to develop new auto terminal

Guangzhou Port Group and SAIC Motor have signed an agreement to jointy develop Haijia Automobile RoRo Terminal project as part of the international automobile logistics park in the new Nansha Free Trade Zone.

The terminal will have two roro berths with total designed handling capacity of 620,000 vehicles upon completion by the end of 2017. Total investment for the project is about RMB612m ($94.4m).

The new terminal will be operated together with three existing auto roro berths at Nanshan Port, which will have a total automobile handling capacity of 1.8m vehicles each year.

According to Chen Hong, president of Guangzhou Port Group, the port will further develop Shazi Island in Nansha into the hub of automobile transport and trading for South China.
