Maersk Drilling awarded jackup contract by Nexen

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a contract by Nexen Petroleum for the drilling of three wells, with options for an nine additional wells, at the Buzzard field in the UK sector of the North Sea.

The drilling campaign will utilise one of Maersk’s I-class jackup rigs and will commence around July 2018. The duration of the firm period is expected to be around 225 days.

Lars Ostergaard, chief commercial officer of Maersk Drilling, commented: “This is an important win in a challenged market, and we appreciate this opportunity to leverage our extensive experience in the North Sea and further strengthen our good relationship with Nexen Petroleum U.K Limited.”

The jackup to be used for the campaign will be decided later this month.
