Three Japanese VLCC orders revealed

Japan Marine United (JMU) has won three rare VLCC orders, sources tell Splash. Yokohama-based JX Ocean has come in for two VLCCs and Kyoei Tanker has signed for one too. All are due for delivery in 2018. No price has been disclosed.

JX Ocean is part of oil firm JX Group and is the result of a merger in 2014 between JX Tanker and JX Shipping. Its fleet today comprises 58 ships.

Kyoei Tanker, meanwhile, can trace its history back to 1937. Its fleet today includes five VLCCs, five product tankers and six bulkers.

For JMU, the orders seal up 2018 at its docks and it is now marketing 2019 and even 2020 slots.
