Danish developers link up for 500 MW offshore wind project in Bangladesh
Danish developers Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) have submitted a proposal to the Bangladesh government for a 500 MW offshore wind project off the coast of the Bay of Bengal.
If implemented, the offshore wind farm estimated to be worth $1.3bn, would be the first of its kind in Bangladesh – and possibly South Asia.
Preliminary study findings suggest that hundreds of direct and indirect jobs could be created during the construction phase, in addition to dozens of permanent positions during the 30-year operational phase of the project.
The duo has proposed that Summit Power International, the country’s infrastructure operator and developer and the largest independent power producer, joins its consortium.
