The last remains of German owner Marenave Schiffahrts’ fleet has been sold off in a bank-driven sale.
The Marenave website now shows all of its mixed fleet of bulk carriers, tankers, car carriers and boxships as sold.
Reports show the two Koyo-built, 68,000 dwt Mare Atlantic and Mare Pacific tankers, both built in 2001, as purchased by Greek owner Stalwart Tankers for $6.7m each. The ships had earlier this year been taken on subs by Dubai’s Kasco Group, but the deal fell through.
Stalwart Tankers has a string of ships in the same age group as the duo it has just taken over from Marenave.
Marenave was founded in 2006 by König & Cie and HSH Nordbank although it has since changed hands twice. Its restructuring over the past 12 months has found resistance amid a fight for control by big German shipping names Offen and Ernst Russ.
