Buss Energy wins port logistics contract for German offshore wind farm

Buss Energy Group has been selected by Heerema Marine Contractors for the entire port logistics of EnBW’s 960 MW He Dreiht wind farm in the German North Sea.

The contract is set to start end of 2023 and will be operated by Buss terminal at the Dutch port of Eemshaven.

The work scope covers the unloading of monopiles and transition pieces, terminal handling and transport, storage of the components, as well as, loading onto the seagoing barges for installation. Buss will also carry out the engineering and project management aspects associated with the logistics scope of this project.

The monopiles with a diameter of 9.2 m and lengths of up to 71 m will have a unit weight of up to 1,350 tons and the transition pieces will weigh up to 640 tons and reach heights of up to 35 m.

Buss Terminal in Eemshaven has been a go-to place for several offshore wind projects, including Hollandse Kust Noord and Hornsea Two wind farms.

“For Buss Energy Group, the award of another offshore marshalling project underlines the leading position of Buss Terminal Eemshaven in the market of the North Sea and supports our approach to serve the industry not only as a provider of terminal areas, but as a full-service provider,” said Moritz von Schwerdtner, chief of operations for offshore wind at Buss Energy Group.

The He Dreiht wind farm will feature 64 wind turbines situated approximately 90 km northwest of the island of Borkum and 110 km west of Helgoland. The wind farm is scheduled for grid connection by the end of 2025.
