CCS surpasses 80m gt

Beijing: As at the end of 2012, the number of ships registered with China Classification Society (CCS) has reached 12,123, totalling 80.80 million gt. The numbers include 2,883 international sailing ships at 57.68m gt, a tonnage increase of 15% year-on-year, and 9,240 domestics sailing ships at 23.12m gt, a tonnage increase of 13.5%, according to statistics from a recently held CCS conference.

In addition, the classification society completed 47 specification guides and research projects in 2012. CCS said, it will enhance services on ocean development and ocean environment protection this year. [28/01/13]
