China vows to build 42 transport hubs

Beijing: With the fast development and growing demands of the transport industry, China plans to build 42 transport hubs by the end of 2015, with at least one in every province, autonomous region and municipality, according to a guideline released on the central government’s website on Tuesday.

Developing traffic hubs is an effective method to promote the nation’s overall transportation efficiency, improve traffic services and reduce the logistics costs, the guideline said.

Yang Chuantang, the minister in charge of transport, said the authorities will establish a “mega-transport” mechanism to comprehensively develop and construct railways, water routes and other sectors. [03/04/13]
