China’s first regular calls to Russia’s Far East

Shanghai: A Chinese line has become the first in the nation to start a regular route to Russia’s Far East.

With the first call of the 716teu Xin He Da this week to Vostochny China-Mult Trans has launched a new service calling Lianyungang, Ningbo, Shanghai before heading to Russia. Two ships have been deployed on the weekly service. Most of the cargoes are destined for Eastern Europe via the Trans-Siberian Railway.

During the first three quarters of the year, trade volume between the two countries surged by 14.2% from a year earlier to $66.2bn, according to data from the Chinese General Administration of Customs.  [19/10/12]
