CLdN orders two more roros at Hyundai Mipo

Luxembourg-based roro operator CLdN, part of Cobelfret Group, has ordered two post-panamax 8,000-lane-metre roro vessels at South Korean shipyard Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for an undisclosed price.

The vessels are part of the company’s plan announced in 2015 to add 12 new vessels in total to its fleet. Deliveries are scheduled in 2019.

CLdN currently has another two roro vessels under construction at Hyundai Mipo, with deliveries scheduled this year, and it also ordered last year two roros at Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik Shipyard plus four options.

The series of vessels are said to be the largest commercial roro ships in the world.

CLdN Ro-Ro has a fleet of 24 vessels operating short routes between European ports.

As well as roro shipping, Colbelfret has a dry bulk buinsess and a series of terminals. At the start of 2017, Splash understood that Cobelfret acquired a secondhand 95,711 dwt bulk carrier from German owner Oldendorff for $19m.
