Costamare takes Nissen Kaiun cape

New York-listed Greek owner Costamare has reaffirmed its dry bulk fleet plans, emerging as the highest bidder of one of the few reported cape sales this month.

The Konstantinos Konstantakopoulos-led company tabled some $35m for the 12-year-old, Koyo Dock-built Frontier Unity, in a deal with its close friends at Nissen Kaiun. This is the second cape sale between the two outfits this year and is Costamare’s fourth cape purchase in just nine months.

Among other notable cape transactions this month, John Fredriksen’s Golden Ocean paid South Korea’s H-Line $43m for the nine-year-old HL Harmony.
