CSCL in for China’s largest boxships to date

Hong Kong: China Shipping Container Lines has said in a preliminary filing that it will order five 18,000 teu ships at an unspecified South Korean shipyard, likely to be Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, where Maersk’s EEE ships are under construction. CSCL does, however, also have strong ties with Samsung Heavy Industries too.

CSCL said “further details will be disclosed after a firm contract is signed”. The boxships would be the largest ordered by a Chinese owner to date.  [29/04/13]
