CSIC a rarity among Chinese shipbuilders, reporting profit increase for 2012

Beijing: China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), one of the two largest shipbuilding conglomerates in China, saw its 2012 revenue jump by 7.7% year-on-year to RMB175bn and saw its profits also increase more than 7% from a year earlier.

CSIC attributed the increases to its strategy of diversifying and adjusting its products and it has devoted more of its resources in 2012 to various non-marine products.

"We will continue developing non-marine products, expanding into industries such as energy, transportation and logistics, and expanding our presence in the global market," said Sun Bo, a senior executive of CSIC. [17/01/13]
