Dawei framework agreement close

Bangkok: A framework for the initial phase of the much delayed Dawei port project is likely to be signed off by Myanmar and Thailand next month.

The proposed projects in the first phase proposed by Italian-Thai Development Co (ITD) and Rojana Industrial Park Plc will be studied. Both parties have submitted plans developing a road network linking the Thai border with Dawei.

ITD and Rojana will also develop 27 square km of industrial estate and construct a two-lane road from the Thai border to Dawei as well as develop a port and a power plant.

A motorway connecting Dawei with Laem Chabang deepsea port in Thailand's Rayong province is also under consideration by the government.  [11/12/14]
