Dockworkers receive last strike allowance

Hong Kong: After nearly a week since the end of Hong Kong dockworkers’ strike, the Union of Hong Kong Dock Workers sent the last strike allowance (HK$4,600) to workers who had joined in the terminal strike yesterday. The Union also decided to distribute the remaining HK$1.8m strike fund to the strikers.

However, there are around 30 crane operators originally hired by Global Stevedoring Service who have found themselves out of a job. The workers said they will not move their camp outside the port until they get a new job. [14/05/13]
