Floatel secures more options for Equinor-bound vessel

Oslo-based accommodation vessel specialist Floatel has secured an optional contract with energy major Equinor for accommodation and support services at the Oseberg field centre.

The optional deal is connected to the recently awarded contract for the Floatel Superior. The 2010-built vessel will provide accommodation and support services at the Åsgard B facility on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The contract with Equinor for the vessel is set to start in March or April of 2025, and last for six months with Equinor having options to extend the hire period.

If Equinor declares the agreed option contract, the hire period for the Floatel Superior will be extended by an additional five to eight months to a total duration of eleven to fourteen months, including the Åsgard project.

According to Floatel, the optional period at Oseberg must be declared by Equinor before November 1, 2024. This engagement at the Oseberg field, if exercised, will begin immediately following the completion of the project at Åsgard in the early fourth quarter of 2025.
