Fredly’s Hunter comes onboard world’s largest VLCC pool

Arne Fredly’s new VLCC outfit Hunter Group has selected Tankers International as commercial manager for its fleet.

Tankers International will set up a pool which consists exclusively of modern scrubber-fitted VLCCs from Hunter Group, Hartree Maritime Partners, International Seaways, Oak Maritime, and Ridgebury Tankers.

The new pool, combined with Tankers International’s existing VLCC pools, represent the largest VLCC fleet in the world with more than 70 VLCCs on a fully delivered basis.

Hunter Group reckons the creation of the scrubber pool will maximise the company’s earnings potential through access to a large scale operation with a strong independent management team, while simultaneously retaining 100% of expected scrubber fuel savings.

Last month, Hunter Group sold three of its VLCC newbuildings to John Fredriksen’s Ship Finance International (SFL) under a sale and leaseback arrangement.
