Giuseppe Bottiglieri offloads MR1 quartet

The Naples-based Giuseppe Bottiglieri Shipping Company has finally found buyers for all four tankers its in fleet which were put up for sale late in 2018.

The four MR1 sister ships – Mariella Bottiglieri, Alessandra Bottiglieri, Ghetty Bottiglieri and Mariella Bottiglieri – are being sold en bloc to Chinese buyers for $28m, according to broking sources. Clarksons was the exclusive shipbroker selected by Bain Capital to find potential buyers.

Last November Splash reported that three 10-year old post panamax bulkers in the Giuseppe fleet were also put up for sale.

As of today the shipping firm 100% controlled by private equity fund Bain Capital has a mixed fleet of 15 vessels.
